2012 AA Division Game Reports
Mar 24, 2012, 10:34 pm

Feb 28    Crighton 6: Maples 2

Play in the AA division got off to a an explosive start as Crighton won their season opener against Maples by a score of 6 to 2. Crighton wasted no time getting on the board as 4 players: Omar Sanchez, Darian “War Tank” Lopez, Zion Coe, and Robert Davis all scored runs in the top of the first inning. The defense had  on their game faces and gave good support to their  starting pitcher Zion Coe. An exciting play was made in the first inning as outfielder Davin Gallagher relayed the ball from right field to first baseman Roberth Davis to throw out a runner at first. Pitcher Zion Coe continued to stoke the fire with multiple strikeouts as he no-hit Maples through  the first three innings.

Maples starting pitcher Landon Parsons struck out the first Crighton batter he faced, but ran into a bit of trouble when the next four batters got on base and scored runs. After some pep talking from his coaches he regained his form and put out the next two runners in plays at home plate with assists from catcher Dane Muspratt. Albertini "The Bull" Holness pitched the remaining 3 innings of the game for Maples, striking out 8 of 15 batters  while going 2 for 2 at the plate and scoring one of  two Maples runs that came in the fourth inning. The second Maples run was scored on an exciting inside the park home run from Jesse Jackson.

Feb 28    CIBC  6 : Pizza Hut  3

The CIBC "Baseball Crushers" made a winning start to the 2012 baseball season as they lead Pizza Hut 6-3 on opening day at the field of dreams. Starting pitcher Mark "The Kraken" Chow struck out the first two he faced before retiring with a sore arm. Relief pitcher Julian "Bullseye" Menko took over and struck out 7 on 41 pitches over 3 and 1/3 innings giving up only one earned run. The fielders were on their toes behind the pitchers and key plays were made by Javier Johnson, Geordi Forrester and Jevon Forbes who threw out runners at first. After a scoreless first inning the CIBC bats sprang to life  and six runs were scored in three innings off  an  inside the park home run from Jonah Pierre, a triple from Julian Menko, and singles from Everton Allen and Chad Brooks.

Pizza Hut started strong in the first inning as CIBC were held scoreless in the top of the first by the accurate pitching of Justin Derrick and the dominant defense of the Pizza Hut infield. The play of the evening belonged to shortstop Mario Ebanks who snagged a fast moving ground ball stepped on second base and threw down to first  to turn a brilliant double play. In the bottom of the first Pizza Huts show of strength continued as Mario Ebanks and Justin Derrick both scored runs to put Pizza Hut ahead 0-2. Run production however fell off after the first inning and 6 CIBC runs went unanswered until the bottom of the 4th when Miguel Rodriguez hit a cracking shot to the outfield fence  to score a solo inside the park home run  giving Pizza Hut their third and final run of the game.

March 3   Maples 3: CIBC 5

Maples took on CIBC in AA division play on Saturday night at the Field of Dreams. Maples bats were hot to start as they scored two early runs on a triple from third baseman Gonzalo McLaughlin and a steal of home by Albertini Holness. Gonzalo made his contribution at the plate and in the field as he also threw out a runner at first. Jesse Jacksons "Homerun bat" was once again in fine form as he hit his second solo blast of the season. Jesse also took the mound in the bottom of the 5th and struck our 4 of 5 batters.

The CIBC "Baseball Crushers" starting pitcher Javier Johnson pitched a gem going 5 2/3rd on 86 pitches striking out 12. Short stop Gio Foster fielded his position well and put out 3 during the game. Third baseman Julian Menko put out three and hit a RBI triple. Going into the 4th Maples had the lead with the score at 3-2, but rookie outfielder D'Andre Rowe started a two out rally in the bottom of the fourth when he hit a triple down the left field line and then evened the score on a steal of home. D'Andres heroics fired up the team and the Crushers scored two more runs on a couple of hits and some aggressive base running.

March 3   Pizza Hut 8 : Crighton 8

Pizza Hut battled it out with Crighton to a tied game on Sat night. Miguel Rodriguez the starting pitcher also hit a homerun in the 3rd inning making this his second homerun for the season, Justin Derrick as pitcher caught an amazing ball that Darian Lopez hit, all the spectators were amazed by this out. Mario Ebanks in the 5th inning hit a home run followed by another run from Justin bringing the score even.  Pizza Hut catcher Mikhail Taylor stayed in the game although he got hurt, and did a good job. Adam McWatt, Zach Bodden,  and Inaki Watler also did well and  Kory McLean received the game ball for scoring the first run of the game.

Crightons player of the game and starting pitcher Roberth Davis pitched the first inning working with Matthew Westin in the catcher position and held Pizza Hut to one run thanks to some spectacular team work by Crighton on defense. Zion Coe hit a home run over the fence followed by solid hits from Alaye Mclaughlin, Daniel Manderson, Davin Gallagher and Shannon Osgood. The lead changed hands several times during the game but Crighton never gave up and answered Pizza Hut play for play. The nail biting game ended with the score at 8 -8.

March 6   Crighton 9 : CIBC 9

Crighton played CIBC in another down to the wire game which resulted in a tied score of nine all. Player of the game Alaye McLaughlin made the only homerun for team Crighton and solid hits were also achieved by Darian “War Tank” Lopez, Daniel Manderson, Kaylone Warren and Roberth Davies. Crighton  pitchers Daniel Manderson, Zion Coe and Omar Sanchez Diaz made it interesting for  CIBC , the stikeouts were numerous and CIBC was limited to four runs in the first three innings. Pitcher Zion Coe was also awarded Crightons player of the match for his performance on the mound and in the field.

Last nights game was not for the faint of heart as the CIBC Baseball Crushers  living dangerously as always,  came from five runs down to tie with Crighton in the final inning.  In the bottom of the 4th the score was at Crighton 9 : CIBC 4, but timely hitting and patience at the plate worked to help CIBCs cause and last nights “rally rouser” was Jonah Pierre who proved that a bat in time can indeed save nine when he hit a triple to left field to start the ball rolling. Other key hits from Julian Menko and Everton Allen and walks by Mark Chow and Chad Books set the table for player of the game Jevon Forbes who drove in the tying runs with a single to center as the Crushers pulled off an unbelievable comeback in a nail biting finish.

March 6   Maples 2 : Pizza Hut 4

Maples enjoyed some outstanding pitching by  Jessie Jackson as he gave Pizza Hut a taste of his blazing fastball, pitching 3 complete innings and giving up 3 runs. Rookie outfielder Francisco Fuentes made an excellent catch of a pop fly out in centerfield and threw down to third to turn a double play.

Mario Ebanks got things heated up for Pizza Hut with two back-to-back no hit innings with only a walk resulting in 1 run for Maples. There were quite a few walks in the 2nd innings resulting in Jelani “JJ” Campbell, Mikhail Taylor, Miguel Rodriguez, Augusto Hudgson and Gianno Williams getting on base but Mikhail was walked home to tie the game 1-1.Adam McWatt continued on stong by pitching with no -hits in the 3rd inning. At the bottom of the 3rd both Korey McLean and Adam got to first and made their way home by stealing each base resulting in more runs for Pizza Hut. Justin Derrick finished thing off by pitching our last inning with only 1 hit , but a walk resulted in maples 2nd run. Pizza  Hut finished with JJ, Mikhail and Lyndon Waite getting walked, but JJ 's stolen bases got him to home resulting in our 4th run.

March 10   Pizza Hut 15: CIBC 6

Pizza Hut got things rolling with a double from Justin Derrick followed by Mario Ebanks' single who ended up stealing home causing the second run. 4 other runs were scored by Mikhail Taylor, Lyndon Waite, Miguel Rodriguez and Korey McLean who got a double bringing Pizza Hut to 6 runs in the first inning. Augusto Hudgson and Wyatt Hope both had walks but didn't make it home. CIBC had 5 runs in the bottom of the first but Adam McWatt threw to Zack Bodden on first for an out and then pitched 2 strikeouts. Two runs were then scored by Gianno Williams and Jelani (JJ) Campbell in the second inning. The bottom of the 2nd ended quickly with an out at second by Mario and 2 strikeouts by Adam with no runs by CIBC, Pizza Hut kept it going strong in the 3rd with a single by Korey who brought home by Miguel's triple! Wyatt Hope , Gianno and Inakai Watler were walked to get on base and Wyatt had a great effort to steal home but was unfortunately called out. Things continued to sizzle in the bottom of the 3rd when Justin made a running pop-fly catch on a foul ball. Miguel pitched a strikeout then Gianno threw to 1st for our final out . 6 more runs were scored by Pizza Hut in the 4th! Miguel held the bottom of the 4th to no runs by 2 strikeouts and a force out at home.

CIBC suffered their first defeat of the season as they fell to Pizza Hut 15-6. At first it looked as though the "Comeback Kids" were up to their usual tricks and would give the competition a run for their money as they answered Pizza Huts 6 run first inning with 5 runs in the bottom of the first, and a solo home run off the bat of RaShawn Powery, to start the second. However it was not to be as the bats of the Baseball Crushers" were tucked into bed and lulled to sleep by the pinpoint pitching of Pizza Huts Miguel Rodriguez. Rookie outfielder Ra Shawn Powery won CIBCs player of the game for hitting his first home run ever.

March 10    Maples 16 : Crighton  3

Crighton also suffered their first defeat of the season as they fell to Maples 16-3. With a number of key players on the DL, several Crighton kids had the opportunity to test their skills in new positions. Crightons player of the game Matthew Westin was impressive as catcher and along with Davin Gallagher, and Alaye McLaughlin he also had the opportunity to pitch for the first time. Team Crighton demonstrated wonderful team spirit, however they were no match for Maples on Saturday night.

Maples showed a lot of patience at the plate as 11 batters were walked and all came in to score. Maples player of the game Dane “Scrappy Doo” Muspratt had a good night as he had a single, a double, a walk and scored three runs.

March 13       CIBC 12: Maples 7

Maples got off to a rocky start and gave up six runs in first inning. Inside the park home runs from Jessie Jackson and London Parsons, triples from Kion Parchmont and Francisco Fuentes, and aggressive base running from Dane "Scrappy Doo" Muspratt helped Maples cut into CIBCs lead, but the game ended with the score at CIBC 12; Maples 7.

CIBC weary of playing catch up to win, took the lead in the first inning and kept it. Mike Harris and Kareem Foster scored their first runs of the season. RaShawn Powery started working on a home run streak and hit his second home run in as many games, player of the game Mark "The Kraken" Chow clapped a shot to left field with the bases loaded to drive in three runs, and shortstop Gio "Speedy Gonzalez" Foster turned a perfect double play to end the game.

March 13 Pizza Hut 4: Crighton 3

Pizza Hut sizzled in the bottom of the 4th inning to win a close one over Crighton 3 to 4. Zack Bodden had a great 1st inning with a catch at 1st and a foul catch for two outs. He followed that up with a walk turning into Pizza Hut's first run. Pitching was strong from Mario Ebanks and player of the game Justin Derrick with great support from catchers Mikhael Taylor and Adam McWatt. But it was Miguel Rodriguez double that brought Lyndon Waite and Inaki Watler home followed by a double from Korey McLean to bring the winning run in to end the game.

 March 17    Pizza Hut 10 : Maples 6

Pizza Hut had the ‘Luck of the Irish” on Saturday night after trailing most of the game, scoring 6 runs in the 6th inning for a 10-6 win. Pizza Hut had clutch hitting and good base running from Justin Derrick, Miguel Rodriguez, Adam McWatt and Zach Bodden to keep the game close, but Player of the game “Super Mario” Ebanks’ pitching held Maples to no runs in the last two innings affording Pizza Hut the win.

Maples played hard and it was another outstanding game pitched by Albertini "The Bull" Holness as he only gave up 4 runs before turning it over to the bull pen. The team had good hitting once again from Jessie Jackson and Kion Parchmont.

March 17    CIBC 5 : Crighton 9

The Crighton Sluggers, came out victorious against the CIBC "Baseball Crushers" on Saturday. The CIBC boys played well but it wasn't enough to overcome the powerful Crighton bats which were hot hot hot!! Everton Allen turned a double play at 3rd base, RaShawn “Hammer Time” Powery continued his homerun streak with HR#3, Geordi “Skittles” Forrester made an excellent relay throw from centerfield to throw out a runner at second and Catcher Jevon Forbes threw out a runner attempting a steal at second.

For Crighton , the second inning proved to be the most exciting as five runs were scored by Zion Coe, Alaye McLaughlin, Joshua Gonzalez, Daniel Manderson capped off by an impressive home run by Robert Davis. Crighton played excellent defense and their hard work paid off, Omar Sanchez provided the most exciting play of the night when he got a phenomenal CIBC player out at the home plate. Players of the game for Crighton were Robert Davis and Omar Sanchez.

March 20     Crighton 14: Maples 7

Crighton again met up with Maples and had yet  another three inning incomplete game.  Daniel Manderson was starting pitcher and  Team Crighton demonstrated cohesiveness this time around and highlights included  an impressive hit by Outfielder Kaylone Warren who was dubbed Crightons player of the game.   Although Maples started off with strong pitches Crighton demonstrated their resilience and played smart with  a combination of solid batting and a terrific fielding by the team.  For team Maples, highlights included Jessie Jackson turning a nice double play to get an out at first then at home. Maples made the game exciting in the last inning as they scored 6 runs to cut into Crightons lead but came up short at the end.

March 20    CIBC 5: Pizza Hut 4

Pizza Huts "Irish luck" ran out as CIBC won Tuesday nights matchup by a score of 5 to 4 . CIBCs bats were largely silent but they took advantage of walks and wild pitches to manufacture 5 runs over 5 innings. The CIBC defense was outstanding.  First baseman Jonah Pierre put out 2 runners unassisted, infielders Javier Johnson and Mark "The Kraken" Chow kept the base runners honest and made several great plays, and pitcher Julian "Bulls eye " Menko turned a double play to end the fourth inning and prevent the go ahead run from scoring. In the fifth Gio "Speedy Gonzalez" Foster took the mound to protect a one run lead, and earned himself a new nickname; "Lights out" as he shut down the surging Pizza Hut offense to save the game for CIBC. For the Pizza Hut "Panthers" Miguel Rodriguez was named player of the game for a solid job protecting the home plate and staying in the game after an injury. Korey McLean also had a great game with a double and run scored. Both Justin Derrick &  Mario Ebanks pitched a strong game and also scored runs for Pizza Hut.

The bats came alive for Maples as they got their first win of the season. Led by Jessie and Albertini they got good support from Catcher Dane Muspratt, Second baseman Aaron Miller and Shortstop Landon Parsons. Once again there was outstanding pitching from Albertini Holness and  closer Jessie Jackson.

March 24    Pizza Hut 7 : Crighton 9

At the end of the first inning Crighton scored runs with their first six batters Daniel Manderson, Omar Sanchez, Darian Lopez, Zion Coe, Alaye McLaughlin and Kaylon Warren. The game ended on a high note as it was the first game for Crighton that lasted six innings and the boys had a blast! Crightons players of the game were Zion Coe and Daniel Manderson.

Pizza Hut fell behind in the 1st by 6 runs , but player of the game second baseman Wyatt Hope, had two put outs  at first. Starting pitcher Miguel Rodriguez made a strong comeback pitching the 2nd inning with a quick out at first and 2 strikeouts. The Pizza Hut bats heated up in the 4th with 5 runs scored and they added 2 more runs in the 6th but Pizza Hut still fell short by 2 runs

March 27   Crighton 7 : CIBC 7
The Crighton Sluggers lived up to their name as they scored 5 runs in the first inning of their game against CIBC. The Sluggers were seeing the ball like a basketball and made frequent solid contact, most spectacular being Darian "War tank" Lopez who hit the ball over the fence for a two run homer.
CIBCs never say die Baseball Crushers ended a rough first inning against the Sluggers as RaShawn Powery retrieved a ball from deep in the outfield and relayed it shortstop Gio "Speedy Gonzalez" Foster who tagged out the runner on his way to third. Player of the game Gio came up big for CIBC again in the second inning with a 3 run RBI tripple when the Crushers were down by 5. The game also saw good pitching from Javier Johnson who came on in the third to silence the constant Kraaak!! of the Crighton bats.

March 27     Maples 8 : Pizza Hut 3
Pizza Hut was closed down for business Tuesday night by "Attorney General" Matthew Johnson from Maples who was making his debut on the mound. Player of the game Matthew pitched an outstanding game for his inauguration as he only gave up five hits and three runs against a good Pizza Hut lineup. He got fantastic run support from his team mates right from the start as they scored runs in every inning. Francisco Fuentes, Gonzalo McLaughlin and Landon Parsons all had triples in the game and all scored on singles from Jessie Jackson and Deandre Thomas.
Pizza Hut had strong pitching by Adam McWatt and Justin Derrick. Player of the game Inaki Watler had a great throw from deep in the field to the cut-off man to stop a home run. Hits by Adam McWatt, Lyndon Waite, Mario Ebanks, a double by Jelani Campbell , as well as numerous walks from the team, were not enough to catch up to Maples who won their second straight game.

March 30   Pizza Hut 12: CIBC 12
What a game for the fans on Saturday night! The bats were on fire for the Pizza Hut Panthers  with triples by Lyndon Waite, Adam McWatt and player of the game Agusto Hudgson! In addition , runs were scored by hits  from many members of the team, including a great effort by Korey McLean who went 3 for 3 at the plate! Wyatt Hope also had a great game by coming in with 3 runs! ! Great team work Pizza Hut!
The CIBC Baseball Crushers played to a 12-12 tie with Pizza Hut after giving up a one run lead in the top of the fourth inning. CIBC came storming back in the bottom of the fourth to make up a six run deficit to tie the game on a solid hit from player of the game Mike Harris who smoked the ball to center field for a 2 RBI triple. Geordi “Skittles” Forrester showed “Major League” style at 2nd base with a diving stop and throw from his knees to get a runner at 1st and Catcher Everton Allen did well behind the plate tagging out   three at home and catching a pop fly in foul territory for another out.

March 30   Maples 5 : Crighton 1
This game  saw outstanding pitching once again from Albertini "The Bull" Holness and great defensive plays behind him, most notably from from Outfielder Francisco Fuentes who was backing up a play missed by another outfielder and got the ball to his cut off man who gunned down the runner at home with a catch and tag by catcher Dane 'Scrappy Doo" Musprattt. Maples set the tone of the game right from the start as Dane lead off with a walk and Albertini tripled and brought him home followed with a double from Jessie Jackson that scored Albertini. Jessie Jackson had a good night at the plate as he hit another double later in the game and went on to score on a triple from Landon Parsons. Landons run was brought home on  a RBI single from Gonzalo Mclaughlin. At this time Maples was up by 4 runs in the last inning and went to closer Jessie Jackson who wasted no time in finishing the game off.
The Crighton Sluggers   played well defensively in the first three innings.  On Offense  Omar Sanchez scored the only run of the game for Crighton in the fourth inning hitting an inside the park homerun. The score was held at five to one with the players of the game being pitcher Omar Sanchez and catcher Darian Lopez.

April 14  CIBC 2 : Maples 3
The CIBC Baseball Crushers shook of some of the rust of the Easter holidays as they lost a close game versus Maples on Sat night. The game was a bonafide Bullfight as Maples pitcher Albertini "The Bull" Holness and  CIBC pitcher Julian "Bullseye" Menko locked horns and matched each other pitch for pitch in a low scoring ferocious pitchers duel. Menko came into the game with no losses and 3 wins as starting pitcher, but Maples lead by “The Bull” showed scant regard for his pristine record and roughed him up in the first inning jumping to the early lead by scoring two runs, CIBC came back in the second to tie it up with runs from Adrian Anglin and Chad Brooks. In the 3rd inning Maples got a few players on base and were able to get one run across and could possibly have scored more, were it not for the brilliant defense of short stop Javier Johnson and first baseman Jonah Pierre, who made the plays when it mattered most. In the top of the 5th CIBC battling all the way, got the tying and go ahead runs on base, but Javier was called out attempting to steal home on a bang bang play at the plate  and the game ended in victory for Maples. Javier Johnson was named player of the game for several excellent defensive plays including a double play to end the fourth inning. Congrats as well to Adrian Anglin for scoring his first run of the season and playing second base position for the first time also.
Maples came into this game on a three game winning streak and sent their ace Albertini "THE BULL" Holness to the mound to continue the winning streak, and what a game he pitched as he struck out six of the first seven batters he faced. During the game he gave up only   two runs and struck out twelve batters in four and two thirds innings. The ball was then turned over to closer Jessie "The Body" Jackson who closed it out to get the win for Maples. Catcher Dane "Chiuahua" Muspratt led off Maples first inning with an inside the park homerun followed by Jessie who hit a single and made it  to second on a wild pitch and went on to score after a single from " Speedy" Gonzalo McLaughlin . With CIBC tying the game in the top of the third inning Maples came to bat in the bottom of the third with Kion Parchmont showing a lot of patience at the plate to get  a walk and then score the winning run on a RBI  triple from Albertini.

April 14  Crighton 7: Pizza Hut 8

Pizza Hut had  a late delivery for the win. Pizza Hut are definitely the comeback kids. Strong pitching by Justin Derrick held it to a 2-2 at the end of the 4th . Player of the game Zach Bodden got a triple and scored our first run of the night and played strong even with a hand injury! But with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th and down by 4, Adam McWatt got the rally going with a rbi triple.  Adams heroics were followed by three walks and steal of home on wild pitches for Pizza Hut to pull off the win.

April 17   CIBC 16 : Crighton 3

Incomplete game v Crighton. Runs were scored mostly on walks and steals of home on the wild pitch. Noteworthy performances came from: starting pitcher Jevon Forbes who kept the most fearsome batting order in Double AA in check, allowing only two runs over three innings; from Jonah Pierre who hit a solid 2 RBI triple; and from centerfielder RaShawn Powery who made a play to get  a runner out at third base. The game also marked the return of “The Kraken” Mark Chow off the DL. Mark made his contribution all around as he hit a single scored two runs and put out a runner attempting to steal 3rd. Welcome back Mark!

April 17 - Pizza Hut 14 : Maples 10

The Pizza Hut Panthers halted Maples winning streak with their sizzling hot bats on Tuesday Night at the Field of Dreams. Justin Derrick started the ball rolling – all the way to the fence with a smoking hot triple which was quickly followed by a double from Mario “ Super Mario” Ebanks  to build the momentum early for Pizza Hut and hey presto! Pizza Hut was up by six in the first. But the Panthers also played remarkable defense as evidenced by pop flies caught on the run by in fielders Miguel Rodriguez and Zach Bodden. Maples battled back to gain the lead in the fourth inning, but Pizza Hut wasn’t ready to give up and Gianno Williams got a rally going for Pizza Hut with a well hit RBI double in the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth Pizza Hut regained the lead and with Maples threatening to stage another come back in the bottom of the inning, Pizza Hut player  Zach Bodden dashed Maples hopes, with a brilliant double play to end the game and secure the victory for Pizza Hut. After 12 games with six wins to their credit, Pizza Hut now has sole possession of first place in the AA Division standings.

Maples were looking to extend their four game winning streak as they sent rookie pitcher Matthew “AG” Johnson to take the mound. Matthew had a rough start as he gave up 6 runs in the first inning, but  with  strong offense from his teammates Albertini Holness and Jessie Jackson who both hit their first over the fence homeruns of the season Maples began to pick away steadily at the Pizza Hut lead. Relief pitcher Landon Parsons came in to pitch 2 innings and gave up only 2 runs during his stint. In the fourth the Maples bats sprang back to life as the momentum shifted towards Maples and they were able to take the lead. Landon Parsons and Francisco Fuentes hit doubles, Matthew Johnson hit a scorching triple and Aaron “The Ice” Miller hit an RBI single. In all Maples put together 9 runs over the last two innings but fell victim to the double play that ended their chance to mount a challenge and continue their winning streak.

April 21  Pizza Hut 10 – CIBC 1

The action was non-stop for Pizza Hut with a lot of clutch hits, stolen bases and some strong defense. Gianno Williams with  a cannon for an arm, threw in from deep right field to short-stop Mikhail Taylor who then threw to third baseman Agusto Hudgson spoiling a CIBC FirstCaribbean triple with a tag out at third! Player of the game Adam McWatt had a stellar game hitting a triple and a double, as well as pitching 2 shut out innings.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean bats remained firmly attached to their players shoulders as the side went hitless in their 1-10 loss to Pizza Hut. Both the offense and defense looked lackluster and Pizza Hut took advantage taking the lead in the first inning and keeping it for the duration of the 4 inning game . After the game CIBCFCIB. coaches encouraged the "Baseball Crushers" to live up to their name and start swinging the bats in their next game versus Maples in Tuesday.

April 21  Crighton 5: Maples 6

Maples ace Albertini “The Bull” Holness was back at it again as he struck out 8 batters and gave up 5 runs while pitching his first complete game of the season. He breezed through the first inning striking out the first two batters and then got help with a great catch from short stop Aaron Miller for the third out. Maples went into the last inning trailing by 5 runs when Dane “Scrappy Doo” Muspratt started the rally with a single followed by an inside the park homerun by Albertini. Jessie Jackson got on base on an error, followed by a lot of patience at the plate from the next six batters that all walked as Maples scored 6 runs in the last inning to win the game.

April 24 Maples 11 : CIBC 11

In one of the most exciting games of the season Maples and The CIBC Baseball Crushers played to an 11 all tie. Francisco Fuentes in his debut as starting pitcher pitched himself a marvelous game and very nearly secured the win for his team. Maples got off to a great start as they scored 6 runs in the first inning which started when CIBCwalked the first two hitters who went on to score on a double from Landon Parsons who seems to be on fire lately. With Maples batters’ showing a lot of patience at the plate they generated three walks in the top of the fifth and last inning and with a 3 RBI double from Albertini Holness Maples took an 11 to 5 lead which they thought was good enough for the win, but CIBC had other ideas. "Good things happen when you swing the bat and put the ball in play" so said the CIBC coaches after the Crushers hitless loss to Pizza Hut last Tuesday, and so did the Crushers during their game with Maples. The boys took the coaches advice to heart and everyone got into the act, swinging away and scoring runs. Extra base hits were the order of the day with  triples from Geordi "Skittles" Forrester,   Jonah Pierre, Jevon Forbes and Everton Allen and most notably Adrian Anglin who was getting his first hit of the season.  Javier Johnson had a very amusing and entertaining “bunt homerun”. Doubles came from Julian Menko and Mark Chow. It was the first time the teams were meeting since the " Battle of the Bulls" and once again they seemed evenly matched as an exciting game was played to an 11 all tie.

April 24  Pizza Hut 8:  Crighton 7

Pizza Hut's determination was slow but steady in the game against Crighton affording numerous hits, walks and base stealing. But Pizza Huts advance was threatened in the final inning when there was a strong hit to the fence but outfielder Jelani Campbell threw to the cut off Miguel Rodriguez who then threw to Mikhail Taylor for the out at 3rd. Crighton was still trying to steal off Pizza Hut, but an overthrow to second was backed up by centerfielder Adam McWatt who threw to 3rd baseman Mikhail for the final out , saving Pizza Hut's one run lead and the win.

May 1  Crighton 9- Maples 8

Landon "RED MACHINE" Parsons was on fire against Crighton as he batted in six of the eight runs that Maples scored, he also scored twice on RBI hits from Francisco Fuentes who hit for extra bases. Landon not only did a great job with his bat but he was just as good with the gloves. He assisted with 2 outs including a double play. He is without a doubt Maples player of the game.

May 1  Pizza Hut 11- CIBC1

Pizza Hut's teamwork is really starting to pay off Most of the team's bats were hot on Tuesday"s game but Justin Derrick's 2 inside the park home runs really got things going! with pop-fly catches from Mikhail Taylor and Miguel Rodriguez, to numerous outs at first base, Pizza Hut stopped CIBC from getting on the board. Catcher Zach Bodden's fast throw to second baseman Mikhail, as well as Pitcher Adam McWatt's chase down at 3rd to prevent a steal at home, kept CIBC from advancing.

For CIBC Javier Johnson scored a homerun the teams only run of the game.Gio Foster put out three and outfielder RaShawn Powery made a nice catch of a pop fly for another out. Although "The Crushers" continued to swing their bats, base running errors were their downfall this week, as nine batters got on base but only one managed to score as runners were tagged out stealing all over the place.
